Burt Munro had a somewhat old bike, Indian model, and she worked tirelessly in his native homemade lip balm New Zealand. In 1967 he traveled to the USA with the firm intention to "do something big" and where he managed to give birth to a legend ... and a record that still nobody has been able to overcome.
The director of this film, Roger Donaldson, had directed, back in 1971 a New Zealand television documentary describing the spectacular homemade lip balm feat performed by the willful Burt Munro.
