Ben Burtt is the guy. Winner of the Oscar for the first film of the Star Wars series. Considered father of the modern way of doing Sound Design. For those who are not familiar with the term, "sound design" is to create all the sounds that do not exist in fact. The sounds of spaceships, laser guns, a piano falling from the 20th floor, a sinking ship. Returning to Ben .. it's filmography is impressive: all episodes of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, smacker ET (won the Oscar with all these) among others. smacker Besides these 4 Oscars, was even nominated 5 times with other films. Worked for 28 years at Lucasfilm as sound designer and in 2005 left there and went to work for Pixar. The design: Wall-E. Sound Design for a science fiction movie is a hell of a hassle, since most of the sounds we hear has to be created, since the ships, equipment, doors, nothing smacker like that exists in real life. Sound Design for animation is a hell of a hassle, since all the sounds we hear have to be created. No sound was recorded during smacker filming, since there is no film in the animation. Sound Design for a movie where there are hardly any dialogues ... well, you already understand what I'm getting. Wall-E has all these elements to make it work and insane genius who became the hand of a master. In the interview that Ben Burtt gave Spout he says.. "There are over 2600 sounds created smacker for Wall-E, which is a lot for any film A Star Wars movie, which is huge, usually has about 1,000 new sounds A Indiana Jones, perhaps 700 or 800. So this is huge partly because many details needed in the sound. Obviously nothing is recorded while you're making the movie. everything has to be added later. " In the video below has a very cool story about how he made the sound design of Wall-E. Is 20 minutes and the sound quality deserves a headset. Update 19/12 video that was posted is no longer online. I tried to find it on other moonlight and found .... but I found these below. No more talking directly about creating the sounds of Wall-E, smacker but a talk with Ben Burtt were made showing how various sounds that we have all heard in movies cooperating. Update 12/31 I found the video again :-) Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 These videos are part of this article smacker originally in Collider
I saw the movie and loved it. But specifically about the sound, it was not to be expected that by 2070 (approximate date of creation of the Wall-E) robots should not have a decent voice synthesizer? The sound of his voice is worse than that of 1990 Soundblaster. Same thing goes for 'voice' of EVA, and it is thought that it would be created in 2700 ... Hug, maurice Beto 11:21 AM
The "authenticity" of the sound created is about the expectation that we have. By 2070, the sound could be perfect, identical to the human voice. But the imagination of people say that robo voice has to be synthesized with voocooder. Part of auditory memory, of expectation. Same thing goes for sounds of shooting. Everyone who heard the shot actually know the sound is nothing smacker like what we hear in the movies. I've had to create the sound of a mousetrap (CR-Rom "Our Portuguese Language." - Prof. Pasquale), only a mousetrap does not record the sound we expect her to have. It took overlay multiple sounds smacker to create the effect (the main was the sound of a snare drum). 1:30 PM
Hi Unfortunately Bern took the video of the air yes. I tried to find it on other sites, but nothing. Anyway he is part of the DVD Extras of Wall-E. I found another cool video of a lecture with Ben Burtt and posted in place. Hope you enjoy! 9:17 AM
